The Quincy Medical Group (QMG) Surgery Center was recently granted licensure from the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH). The survey and licensure from IDPH ensure patient safety and is a significant milestone in the journey of opening the facility to patient care.

The IDPH survey is a two-step process. Those steps include the completion of a life safety survey of the building to verify that all required building and safety codes are met, as well as a clinical survey to verify processes put in place by QMG are optimal to deliver quality patient care.

“This accomplishment is monumental for each one of us in varying capacities,” said QMG Surgery Center Director Sarah Nolinwinkler. “This not only provides our license to operate as a free-standing Ambulatory Surgery Center in Illinois, but it also is a direct reflection of the countless hours spent by all who have been a part of this journey since its conception to present.”

The IDPH license allows QMG to seek approval from the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC). Once accreditation is received, the QMG medical team will begin scheduling and performing surgical care to patients.

The QMG Surgery Center will focus on providing same-day surgeries and procedures. The facility will feature five (5) operation rooms (including a hybrid room to perform cardiac catheterizations), three (3) procedure rooms, fifteen (15) recovery rooms, nine (9) GI pre/post-operative rooms, and ten (10) pre-operative rooms offering the latest in medical technology, patient amenities, and convenient, lower-cost outpatient care.

QMG Chief Clinical Officer Shauna Harrison said the QMG Surgery Center will provide the community with affordable, high-quality healthcare to area patients.

“The new QMG Surgery Center represents our commitment to provide the highest level of surgical care to patients,” Harrison said. “With the addition of the QMG Surgery Center, we look forward to continuing to be among the most innovative healthcare options for advanced medical care in the region.”

The QMG Surgery Center joins the QMG Cancer Institute at the Quincy Town Center at 3301 Broadway in Quincy.
