QUINCY, IL – National Cancer Survivors Day is recognized each year on the first Sunday of June to honor all who have been impacted by cancer. In recognition, Quincy Medical Group (QMG) will host a “Hope Grows Here” event commemorating their individual experiences with cancer.

“Hope Grows Here” will take place at the QMG Cancer Institute, located at 3301 Broadway St in Quincy at the Quincy Town Center, on Sunday, June 5, from 1 – 3 p.m. The community is invited to honor local cancer patients and survivors. A short program will begin at 1:45 p.m.

QMG Benevolence Specialist Jennifer Wingerter said, “Hope helps us envision what we want in our future, and National Cancer Survivors Day not only honors those who have faced a cancer diagnosis, but also celebrates the future that lies ahead. We want them to feel the love and support of our community as they look forward to the future.”

During “Hope Grows Here,” guests will be able to create a bouquet of flowers at Sweet P Petals flower trailer. Sweet P Petals is a mobile flower trailer that provides a build-your-own-bouquet experience.

Guests will have the opportunity to write words of encouragement and support on the “If These Walls Could Talk” chalkboard wall in the Cancer Institute as well as write cards to patients currently receiving treatment. Those in attendance are encouraged to stay for the short program and can enjoy a few sweet treats from local businesses.

All those in attendance are asked to wear masks while inside the QMG Cancer Institute.
