EMBRACE – Oncology Patient Fund

Click here to donate. The Quincy Medical Group Foundation is proud to introduce EMBRACE Cancer. The fundraiser was launched on April 20 and was created to increase funding for oncology patients and families in the community.

Quincy Medical Group’s (QMG) Director of Community Relations Laura Tenhouse said, “The Oncology Patient Assistance Fund has always been a pass-through for our community to donate funds that are gifted to any oncology patient in our community who requires financial support for day-to-day expenses. As large gatherings were canceled so too were some of the largest contributors to our fund like Cancer Crush and Buzz Off. We needed to find a new way to embrace this vulnerable group and that’s where this fundraiser was born.”

All funds raised by the QMG’s non-profit foundation, support financial needs in the community and CEO Carol Brockmiller said, “When we started the QMG Foundation 13 years ago, we wanted to impact the health of our community in accordance with our mission.

Over the years, the mission of the foundation has changed and now we have the Oncology Patient Assistance Fund, the Moments that Matter Fund, the Tim Haley fund as well as our general fund. Now seemed like a good time to focus on the oncology patients in the community as so many general COVID-19 related funds have been created.”

Every donation made to the EMBRACE Campaign will directly support the basic daily expenses of our community’s patients.  

Our most requested items for support include: 

Housing: 

• Mortgage payment or monthly rent
• Utilities (i.e. electricity and gas)

Food and grocery: 

• Food
• Personal care items (i.e. shampoo)
• Cleaning supplies

Clothing: 

• Undergarments (i.e. new bras for patients undergoing mastectomy)
• Shoes and coats

Transportation:

• Car payment
• Car insurance
• Gas

Miscellaneous essentials: 

• Phone bill
• Baby or child necessities
