I am a sec­ond career nurse who ini­tial­ly went to col­lege, out of high school, to study live­stock. Yes, there are lots of sim­i­lar­i­ties between peo­ple and ani­mals. Those sim­i­lar­i­ties allowed for an easy tran­si­tion into a new field. 

Start­ing out as a hos­pi­tal nurse, allowed for time to explore all that nurs­ing had to offer and to iden­ti­fy oppor­tu­ni­ties avail­able to care for a pop­u­la­tion that had always been spe­cial to me. 

My phi­los­o­phy of care would be that every­one deserves to be heard and cared for with respect and dig­ni­ty. We don’t know the path each of us has been on to get to where we are today. We do have the abil­i­ty to let patients be heard and help guide their choic­es down the next road.
