A Lega­cy of Caring

In 1937, Quin­cy Med­ical Group’s jour­ney began with a vision for col­lab­o­ra­tive med­i­cine. Dr. Wal­ter M. Whitak­er and Dr. Kent W. Bar­ber, both rel­a­tive­ly new Quin­cy physi­cians, joined Dr. O.F. Shu­lian, a long-time Quin­cy physi­cian, to estab­lish The Quin­cy Clin­ic at 1416 Maine. This group prac­tice was one of only sev­en in exis­tence in Illi­nois at the time, pio­neer­ing a new con­cept in health­care delivery.

Through the years, QMG has trans­formed from a sin­gle clin­ic into a net­work of loca­tions offer­ing a com­pre­hen­sive range of pri­ma­ry and spe­cial­ty care ser­vices. We’ve con­sis­tent­ly embraced inno­va­tion, estab­lish­ing a prompt care depart­ment in 1986 and achiev­ing a pio­neer­ing mile­stone in 2021 by becom­ing the first out­pa­tient cen­ter in Illi­nois to offer car­diac catheterizations.

Our com­mit­ment to serv­ing the com­mu­ni­ty extends far beyond Quin­cy. We have estab­lished branch­es near­by in Illi­nois, Iowa, and Mis­souri, ensur­ing eas­i­er access to excep­tion­al health­care in the sur­round­ing area.

As we look towards the future, QMG remains ded­i­cat­ed to:
