The Quincy Medical Group (QMG) Foundation was awarded a grant today in support of its EMBRACE campaign.  The EMBRACE campaign was launched to support the foundation’s Oncology Patient Fund which provides financial assistance for oncology patients and their families.

Bank of Springfield (BOS) presented a check to the QMG Foundation today for $3,000.  The funds were provided through a grant from the COVID-19 Relief Program coordinated by the Federal Home Loan Bank of Chicago (FHLBank Chicago).   As a FHLBank Chicago member institution, BOS was given the opportunity to nominate organizations in the communities they serve.

BOS Business Development Officer Caroline Campbell said, “As a community bank we chose the QMG Foundation because we want to support an organization that does so much for our local area, especially during this time.  The QMG Foundation has gone beyond what could be expected during this difficult time of COVID-19 to support our community’s oncology patients.”

QMG Director of Community Relations Laura Tenhouse said these funds and all donations to the EMBRACE campaign will support the daily living expenses of our community’s oncology patients including the cost of essential items, groceries, gas and transportation, rent, mortgages, and utilities.

“Our local oncology patients are among the most vulnerable in our community during this time,” explained Tenhouse. “The EMBRACE campaign is critical in supporting patients who are experiencing tremendous financial hardship in addition to the physical and emotional realities of cancer.”
