New Support Group Helps Those Touched by Cancer

Jan 4, 2022 – Quin­cy Med­ical Group (QMG) Foun­da­tion and QMG Can­cer Insti­tute are announc­ing a new sup­port group for all those who have been touched by can­cer. Can­cer Con­nect pro­vides an oppor­tu­ni­ty for any­one receiv­ing can­cer treat­ment, can­cer sur­vivors, and/​or care­givers to come togeth­er in sup­port of one another.

Can­cer Con­nect will be facil­i­tat­ed by Shari Robesky, MSW, LCSW. Robesky is the Oncol­o­gy Social Work­er at the QMG Can­cer Insti­tute. The group will meet every third Thurs­day of the month, start­ing Jan 20 from 5:30 – 6:30 p.m. at the QMG Can­cer Insti­tute locat­ed at 3301 Broad­way St in Quincy.

Robesky said Can­cer Con­nect pro­vides a safe and com­fort­able place for peo­ple to find hope, devel­op rela­tion­ships, and to come to know they are not alone.

It is our goal that those attend­ing Can­cer Con­nect will receive social, emo­tion­al, and prac­ti­cal sup­port from oth­ers, as well as learn cop­ing strate­gies, insight, and inspi­ra­tion. Most impor­tant­ly, we hope to have fun, despite the strug­gles they face every day,” she shared.

There is no cost to attend Can­cer Con­nect. Drinks, snacks, and give­aways will be pro­vid­ed. Reg­is­tra­tion is not required.
