QMG Neurosurgeon Dr. Brian Anderson

Advancements in neurosurgery have evolved and benefitted patients along the way. Dr. Brian Anderson, a neurosurgeon at Quincy Medical Group (QMG), offers neurosurgical procedures at the QMG Surgery Center on an outpatient basis, meaning patients leave the same day as their procedure.

Dr. Anderson said not too long ago, many of these procedures required patients to spend days in the hospital.  Now, patients experience a smoother recovery process and quicker return to their normal activity.

“Neurosurgery is a more recent addition to a surgery center as we have migrated outside of the hospital for surgery. Some of the last things to do are neurosurgical procedures, but that transition has occurred for us in a large way,” said Dr. Anderson.

At the new QMG Surgery Center, Dr. Anderson will perform a wide variety of procedures including:

  • Carpal Tunnel / Ulnar Nerve Treatment
  • Coflex Device Placement
  • Lumbar Decompression
  • Minimally-Invasive Spine Surgery
  • Lumbar Microdiscectomy (Herniated Disc Repair)
  • Neck Fusion / Artificial Disc Placement
  • SI Joint Fusion
  • Spinal Cord Stimulator Implantation
  • VNS Battery Change
  • Occipital Nerve Stimulator

Dr. Anderson was closely involved in the planning of the QMG Surgery Center, providing a space where neurosurgical procedures can be done safely. Physician-led is what makes QMG unique and it was the physicians who were the voice of their patients throughout the development of the QMG Surgery Center.

“The one common theme for us as physicians, we want a place that represents the type of care that we want to provide.  A building is just a building. We want the building and the facilities to match the quality and precision we expect of ourselves.  I think the QMG Surgery Center has done an exceptional job of doing that.”

Providing the best care and cutting-edge treatment options here in Quincy is a priority for Dr. Anderson. He doesn’t take the trust of his patients for granted.

“I would say pretty frequently, you have these moments where things occur and you realize what impact you’re having on a person’s life. You think about what kind of trust they must place in and it’s pretty humbling. We’re nothing without our patients and I’m very grateful they’re willing to put their trust and faith in me to take care of the more challenging parts of their life. That’s a motivator for me to provide the best care I can.”
