Dr. Katy Wand has always enjoyed taking care of others, and she knew she was destined for a career in medicine, even from a very early age. “When I was little, I had a toy kitchen and beauty shop set, and I would set them up like an operating room and take care of my babies.”
This passion for helping others continued and eventually lead her to pursue a career as a Doctor in Obstetrics and Gynecology. “It’s amazing bringing life into the world. It’s really a privilege and honor to be a part of someone’s birth. Handing moms their babies and getting to be a part of that experience is such a wonderful thing.”
After years of training away from the area, Dr. Wand is thrilled to return to the Quincy community to practice with Quincy Medical Group. “I grew up just right outside of Quincy in Mendon, so I’m excited to come back and take care of this community. The people here mean so much to me. I can’t wait to develop those relationships and deliver babies of those I know and see them grow. It’s going to be amazing.”
Dr. Wand received her bachelor’s degree from Southern Illinois University – Edwardsville and her Doctor of Medicine degree from Rush University Rush Medical College – Chicago. She completed her residency at the Saint Louis University School of Medicine. She is joined in Quincy by her husband, Struther Wand, a Quincy native, and their young son, Grayson. In her spare time, Dr. Wand enjoys spending time with family and friends, being outdoors, and arts and crafts.
