At Quincy Medical Group, our fellowship-trained sports medicine team knows how athletes think. Thanks to specialized training and experience, our experts can design personalized treatment programs based on your injury, your sport, whether or not you are in season, and many other factors to optimize your recovery.

We work closely together with athletes, parents, coaches, and trainers. Our goal is your safe and fast recovery with as little impact on your season as possible.

Our team approach gives you access to all the care you need, whether it is minimally invasive surgery, physical therapy or follow-up with other specialists, such as neurologists for concussions.

Conditions We Treat

We treat all sports injuries, including:

  • Achilles injuries
  • Concussions
  • Dislocations
  • Elbow injuries
  • Fractures
  • Knee injuries (ACL/MCL tears, patellar tendon tears)
  • Strains and sprains
  • Shoulder injuries
  • Tendonitis

Whenever possible, we use conservative treatments like rest, physical therapy, and bracing. If injuries are severe or complex, we also offer advanced surgical care to help return athletes to full function.

Surgery for Sports Injuries

At Quincy Medical Group, our sports medicine surgeon, Adam Derhake, MD, focuses solely on treating sports injuries. Even his surgery team, including surgery technicians and operating room nurses, only assist in surgeries to correct sports injuries.

This specialization allows Dr. Derhake to offer advanced, minimally invasive procedures that many other surgeons can’t perform. He offers arthroscopic techniques with fewer incisions and faster recovery times than other surgeries so you can get back to the game as quickly as possible.

Dr. Derhake performs a wide range of minimally invasive and open surgeries, including:

After surgery, you’ll work closely with our physical therapists and sports medicine primary care physicians to recover and return to play.
