Sports Medicine is a medical specialty that approaches athletes, exercising individuals, and teams comprehensively with a holistic, comprehensive approach to the prevention, diagnosis, and management of sport and exercise-related injuries, disorders, dysfunctions and disease processes.

Although sports medicine concepts are often thought of in conjunction with professional and elite athletes, these concepts apply to athletes of all levels including grade school, high school, college, and recreational athletes (“weekend warriors”).
