What is Infusion?
Infusion is where liquid medicine is administered intravenously. Infusion is done either via an IV in your hand, arm, port catheter, or PICC line.
Chemotherapy treatments can last from 30 minutes to 9 hours. Your nurse will give you an estimate of the length of each treatment.
Infusion Room Guidelines
Your health and well being is of the utmost importance to us. The following guidelines ensure the safety and comfort of our patients and visitors. If you have any questions, please ask any of our staff members.
For The Safety & Comfort Of You And Other Patients
- You may bring one visitor (friend, family member, or another support person) age 16 or older with you in the treatment area. Exceptions are made for special circumstances or during training/education sessions.
- Pregnant women are not allowed in the infusion center and treatment area unless they are being treated.
- Yellow bins near your chair care for chemotherapy waste only. Please do not dispose of other trash, touch, or place your personal items on these bins.
- Private rooms are reserved for patients with special needs. Please speak with a nurse to determine if you need a private room.
- Recliners are reserved for patients undergoing treatment.
To Pass The Time
- Feel free to bring your favorite blanket or pillow from home. Sometimes treatments are the perfect opportunity for a nap.
- We have books, games, CDs, and DVDs for you to use during your treatment. You are welcome to bring your favorite device or diversion to your treatment. WIFI is available for you.
- Snacks and beverages are available for patients. You may also bring prepared snacks and beverages from home.
