Quincy Medical Group’s team of ophthalmologists specialize in the advanced treatment of eye diseases through many ophthalmology services:

Cataracts

A cataract is a clouding of the normally clear lens of your eye. For people who have cataracts, seeing through cloudy lenses is a bit like looking through a frosty or fogged-up window. Clouded vision caused by cataracts can make it more difficult to read, drive a car (especially at night) or other activities. Specific procedures performed include femtosecond laser, dropless cataract surgery, and premium intraocular lenses. Quincy Medical Group Eye and Vision Institute takes pride in being leaders in eye surgery and bringing cutting-edge technologies to our communities.

Medical Retina (intravitreal injections, lasers)

A healthy retina is necessary for good vision. Treatment including intravitreal injections and lasers are utilized to treat conditions of the retina such as macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, vein/artery occlusions, and more.

Glaucoma (medical, lasers, and surgery)

Our Ophthalmology team includes a Glaucoma Specialist who utilizes the latest treatment options for patients. Glaucoma is a group of diseases that damage the eye’s optic nerve and can result in vision loss and blindness. However, with early detection and treatment, you can often protect your eyes against serious vision loss.

Eyelid Procedures (Blepharoplasty, Entropion/Ectropion, and Skin Lesion Removal)

A variety of procedures can be performed to effectively treat conditions of the eyelid. These include:

  • Blepharoplasty: As you get older, your upper eyelids lose elasticity and become droopy. This can affect your vision, as it is difficult to open your eyes fully. This procedure removes the extra eyelid skin to improve your ability to see. This is not a cosmetic procedure and is covered by insurance. Both eyelids are done at the same time.
  • Entropion/Ectropion Surgeries: An entropion is when your lower eyelid turns inward and can cause irritation when the eyelashes rub on the eye. Ectropion is when your lower eyelid turns outward and can cause severe dryness and irritation. Both conditions can lead to a temporary decrease in vision. These conditions can be corrected with surgery by repositioning the lower eyelid.
  • Skin Lesion Removal: This includes but is not limited to: chalazion, skin tags, cysts, and possible cancers. This procedure can be performed in the office.

Cornea

The Eye and Vision Institute also has a Cornea Specialist, who is specially trained to treat conditions of the cornea. The cornea is the eye’s outermost layer. It is the clear, dome-shaped surface that covers the front of the eye. It plays an important role in focusing your vision. Conditions may be congenital, hereditary, or acquired. Corneal transplants can be used to treat more severe conditions.

At the Eye and Vision Institute, our priority is our patients. Our team provides outstanding eye and vision care. We welcome new patients and accept almost all insurance plans. Call us today at (217) 222-EYES.
